Pittsburgh steelers Terry Bradshaw

Terry Bradshaw is one of the most famous and charismatic players to ever play football for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was never afraid to speak his mind as a player and led the team to some of their greatest successes on the field. Off the field, Bradshaw was also hard not to notice as he became a favorite of sponsors and has appeared in numerous commercials, television shows, and even movies. Terry Bradshaw was never the statistically best quarterback in the league, but he was a competitor on the field and over the course of his career was a consistent winner.

Here are five things you may not know about Pittsburgh Steelers all time great, and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Terry Bradshaw.

1. From regular season games, to playoff contests, to Super Bowls, there were a great deal of significant touchdown passes thrown by Terry Bradshaw. The last touchdown pass thrown during his career came in a win over the New York Jets in what was the final NFL game ever played in New York’s Shea Stadium.

2. Terry Bradshaw would often have the reputation of an unbridled gunslinger who would take chances with the football. He led the entire NFL in interceptions only one time during his career though, this happened during his rookie season.

3. Terry Bradshaw played for fourteen seasons in the National Football League from 1970 through 1983, starting games in each of those years. The only seasons in which the Pittsburgh Steelers had losing records in games that he started was in 1970 and 1971, his rookie year and second year in the league.

4. Terry Bradshaw was not always given credit for being the most intelligent quarterback during his playing days, but he was regularly credited for having one of the strongest arms in the league. While in high school that strong arm earned him fame in a sport other than football as he would set the national high school record for longest javelin throw with a distance of 245 feet.

5. The former Pittsburgh quarterback is often kidded by his co-workers on television about both his movie and television acting credits and his performance on a few country music albums he has released. Terry Bradshaw had the last laugh though as he is the first former NFL player to be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Terry Bradshaw is famous to most younger football fans for his work as a studio analyst for the Fox Network’s coverage of NFL games. The personality he exhibits as part of this weekly broadcast has often been called very close to the personality that is encountered were someone to meet him face to face. This is not the Terry Bradshaw that originally endeared millions of sports fans to this balding blonde haired quarterback from Louisiana. Many called Bradshaw cocky during his playing days, but teammates appreciated his brash confidence, and fans of the Steelers loved the results that he produced on the field. There is more to Terry Bradshaw than the comic he plays the part of on Fox’s coverage of NFL games, but there is also more to Terry Bradshaw than the strong armed quarterback the world saw during the glory days of the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers. He is truly one of the all time greats and will be remembered as one of the best quarterbacks and also one of the best in studio analysts that the game has ever seen.
