1. There is only one former Michigan football player to have finished in the top ten among Heisman Trophy votes three years in a row. Wide receiver Anthony Carter finished in tenth place in 1980, seventh place in 1981, and fourth place in 1982.
2. Ohio State is the University of Michigan’s main rival in the Big Ten Conference. The Buckeyes football program has a career winning record against every team in the Big Ten except for the Michigan Wolverines.
3. The Most Valuable Player on the 1934 University of Michigan football team did not enter the world of professional football following graduation as greater things were waiting for him. That football player, Gerald Ford, would go on to become the thirty-eighth President of the United States.
4. Gary Moeller was only the head football coach of the University of Michigan for five seasons, but in that time he was named the Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year twice.
5. Following his time as a Wolverine football player, offensive tackle Mike Kenn went on to play in more professional football games than any former University of Michigan player ever has.
